Georges DuBoeuf is probably the person most responsible for the resurgence of the light, racy red grape of Beaujolais, Gamay. His efforts throughout the Beaujolais region have led to one of the most consistent productions of this finicky grape, whether it be light, easy drinking Beaujolais Nouveau or a more complex Beaujolais Cru. Brouilly, the most southerly of the Beaujolais “Crus,” is also one of the most exuberant, with seductive floral aromatics and racy minerality! It is also the biggest “Cru,” both in terms of production and geography.
