LIGHT & FRESH. Cherry & raspberry aromas burst
from the glass, with a subtle floral hint. Ripe red berry flavors dominate,
with a touch of herb. Clean acidity & a far better structure than one might
expect from a simple table wine.
Gamay & Pinot Noir
“Clos du Tue-Boeuf”
is a small Loire Valley vineyard that dates back to the middle ages, has been associated
with the Puzelat family for several centuries. But the current generation of wine
makers, brothers Thierry & Jean-Marie, don’t rely on history alone. Shortly
after they inherited the vineyard, populated with eclectic grape varietals, the
Cheverny appellation was established and, with it, laws governing which types
& percentages of grapes would be allowed, in order to be called “Cheverny.”
The Puzelat brothers, however, prefer more traditional methods that, while
requiring minimal intervention, are more unpredictable, year to year. As a
result, in some vintages, certain grapes do not fully ripen or are not
available in the allowable percentages. Undaunted, Thierry & Jean-Marie will
simply release their best product under the “table wine” label, which is more
forgiving. However, the craft and care put into these “table wines,” such as this
’06 offering, is never compromised. Whatever they’re labeled, Clos du Tue-Boeuf
wines retain the distinct character & of lands that have been producing
great wine for hundreds of years. |
