FRESH & FRUITY. Deep, smoky cassis and blueberry
aromas, with complex notes of tobacco & musky herb. This inky black red
features stalwart, dark berry flavors with bright, snappy acidity, chewy
tannins and a strong, lingering finish.
100% Monastrell
In 1941, Jose Sanchez-Cerezo acquired this Jumilla property
intent on producing rosemary. Though it was the last thing on Jose’s mind at
the time, the property housed a 70 year old French-built winery. In 1985, the
second generation of the family revived the winery, reconstructing the vineyard
and planting new grape varietials. In 1991 the wine cellar was renovated,
preserving its original structure. Since 1993, Casa Castillo has been producing
wines with their own personality, taste and character, while respecting the
area's tradition. Their wines reflect the characteristics of the land, the
microclimate of their vineyards, the peculiarities of indigenous grapes, &
the skillful work of man. -90 pts, Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar -90 pts, Robert Parker/Wine Advocate |
