Description

FRESH & NUANCED. Light scents of strawberry, pomegranate, & cherry, with complex flavors of red berry fruit, spice, & chalky earth. Limited contact with oak gives this young-drinking red a fresh, easy drinking feel, with a clean, smooth finish.

100% Tempranillo

Creta Roble is a joint venture between superstar importer Eric Solomon & Spain’s Isaac Fernandez. The old vine Tempranillo used to make Creta Roble comes from the highest vineyard in the entire Ribera del Duero region, Pago de Cabarroso, which is sited over 2,700 ft above sea level! The vineyard also enjoys a remarkable chalky soil (“creta” means “chalk”), which gives the grapes a concentrated mineral complexity that shines through in the finished product, giving this red a real sense of place. Unlike the massive Rioja wines, made from the same grape, Creta Roble spends minimal time in oak (4-5 months, during fermentation), giving this easy-drinking red a young, fresh character while also retaining its complexity.
