100% Sauvignon Blanc
The 2015 vintage of St. Bris from Clotilde Davenne is made from the Sauvignon Blanc grape variety which is widely exploited in the vineyards around St. Bris. It lies between Chablis and the Upper Loire. Clotilde uses no oak whatsoever in her cellar, preferring her wines to exhibit the unbridled expression of their individual terroirs. With pure fruit flavours and the minerality provided by the vineyard soils and sub-soils Clotilde reveals herself as a truly skillful winemaker.
The incredible winemaker that she is - Clotilde Davenne confesses to a ‘faiblesse’ for sauvignon blanc and has a particular ‘penchant’ for her St Bris, truly a match for a good Sancerre or Pouilly Fumé and her wine acts as a reminder that the grapes of a sauvignon vine, with notes of redcurrant and gooseberry, have much more inherent flavour than those of the ubiquitous Chardonnay. It is a delicious wine which is drinking beautifully.
