This is our third vintage from this great site in the Sebastopol Hills. Farmer Stan Devotois well known around West Sonoma County. He is a legendary organic apple farmer, and grows amazing flowers for the markets. He got the itch to grow grapes, and in 2006 he planted Pinot Noir right on his prime spot up on top of Gold Ridge Road. In tasting the wine that this young vineyard is producing, it is crazy to think how the wines from this site will be in 10+ years when the vines get some more age on them.
2013 has produced a wine that is earthy, energetic, deep, and dark. It’s perfumed with strawberry, mint and raspberry. On the palate there are flavors of earth, blackberry and dried herbs. The wine’s structure is given a lift from whole-cluster fermentation (50%.)
